Attention Staff Nurses:
Information about Health Care Insurance for 2002!

What was called the "Oxford Point-of-Service (POS) Plan for 2001 is now being called the "Oxford RN Base Plan." This plan is essentially the same as it was in 2001 except that:
  • The out-of-pocket maximums for out-of-network have improved.
(The maximums of $3,500/individual and $7,000/family have been reduced to $2,500/individual and $5,000/family)
  • Co-Insurance has improved.
(The co-insurance has gone from 70/30 to 80/20)
THIS PLAN REQUIRES NO MONTHLY CONTRIBUTIONS FOR MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK PROFESSIONAL NURSES UNION.

The "Oxford 80% Plan" is available for nurses to take advantage of; however, this plan requires monthly contributions.

Advantages of the "Oxford 80% Plan" over the "Oxford RN Base Plan"
  • No referrals are necessary to see a specialist.
  • Drug plan costs $5/$10/$25 (depending on generic vs. brand name) vs. the "Oxford RN Base Plan" of $7/$15/$30.
Disadvantage of the "Oxford 80% Plan" versus the "Oxford RN Base Plan"
  • The out-of-pocket maximums for out-of-network is $3,500/individual and $7,000/family
  • A nurse will pay a monthly contribution in order to be in the Oxford 80% Plan"
$6/paycheck ($156 annually) as an employee only
$12.69/paycheck ($330 annually) as an employee with one dependent
$17.90/paycheck ($465 annually) as an employee with a family
