MEETH IS 100% Safe - NO ANTHRAX!

NYPNU expresses its deepest condolences to the friends and colleagues of Ms. Kathy Nguyen.

The final cultures from MEETH are all negative. Absolutely no anthrax traces exist at the Hospital. MEETH is open as of today, November 5th, and will be accepting patients. NYPNU nurses can report for work on Monday to get ready for Tuesday's schedule.

Anyone on antibiotic therapy as a precautionary measure may stop taking the medication. For more information or confirmation, call 1-888-LENOXHILL for a current pre-recorded announcement, or go to www.nyc.gov/health. You can also contact the Health Department at 1-877-817-7621.

The other MEETH employee that had a suspicious lesion, as reported in the news last week, has been tested and, thankfully, the employee tested negative for anthrax and is absolutely fine. The rumor about Ms. Nguyen's clothes having anthrax on them is false.

MEETH nurses will be paid for this week. Paychecks are expected on time with no delays. Any employment problem that arises from this crisis should be reported to the Union immediately so that we may address it with management.

The New York Professional Nurses Union is in the process of scheduling one or more seminars an "Anthrax and Biological Warfare" in the next coming weeks to help answer questions, address concerns and help us adjust to the new dangers that we have so suddenly found ourselves facing. The dates, times and location of these seminars will be posted on this web site as well as disseminated as leaflets to the membership.
